Our Deepest Sympathy
6 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:6-8
A funeral marks the close of a human life on earth. It is the opportunity for friends and family to express their grief, to give thanks for the life which has now completed its journey in this world and is now in God's keeping.
Funeral services always raise profound questions about the meaning of life and death. Jesus himself believed in a life-giving God: 'the God of the living, not of the dead.' We believe that Christ's resurrection is the triumph of good over evil and of life over death and has made eternal life available to us.
What heaven is like, none of us dare say too precisely but we know that we shall delight in the presence and love of God and of the whole company of heaven. Whatever is wonderful about life here on earth is only a glimpse of the glory of the life that is to come.We want to tell you how sorry we are that someone close to you has died. This is a difficult time, and it is our hope that this information will be helpful to you.
At Church of Sengkang, we regard a funeral service to be first and foremost a ministry that proceeds from Jesus Christ, our hope and our salvation. The primary purpose of a Christian church service is therefore to worship God, and secondly to thank God for the life of the deceased. It is a time to bring a word of comfort and inspiration to all who are grieving, and to bring a sense of closure to a relationship, which has now ended. We believe that all people are a gift from our Creator, and all people are received into the arms of our loving God when they die.
We understand that in times of bereavement, a simple decision can be a difficult task. Which is why all of us in this big family are here to assist you to handle funeral arrangements in giving you peace of mind and ease of heart.

Pastoral Care after the funeral
“5 For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. 6 If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.” 2 Corinthians 1:5-6 (NIV)
Grieving is a natural and important part of coming to terms with and healing this loss and it may continue for several months. Comfort is to be found in the promises of Jesus Christ, in the hope of the Resurrection and in the belief that the beloved person is safe in the hands of God. Church of Sengkang wants to surround the bereaved with the hope and comfort of God’s eternal love by providing pastoral care for our grieving friends and their family.
